The Morning After

Leo's got a cold. We wish Leo knew how to breathe out of his mouth and then perhaps he wouldn't be so cranky. In the meantime, Leo gets to have saline spray squirted in his nose and have his nose suctioned out with a rubber bulb. Aren't colds fun?

Leo, my dearest boy, I know how ookie this is for you. I can see your poor watery eyes. All I can tell you is that this is good exercise for your immune system, and even now your lymphocytes are helping to gobble up those viruses, and it will make your blood cells powerful as only a Leo's can be. I'm not sure it made your dad feel much better to hear this when he was your age, but see how big and strong he is now! Same for your mom! Soon, when you talk, we will all tell stories about your white blood cells, and we will teach you the dance of the immune hobnob globulins. They are growing in you, and finding places in your body where they can happily live. These will help to protect you for your whole life long. The ookiness will pass, Leo, but the safety from this virus will last forever. We are all thinking of you, dear Leo dear Leo dear Leo, and reaching out to you. Grandpa
