He Rolled Over!

Yeah!! Leo rolled over by himself for the first time today. Here is the end result. I don't think he quite understood why Mommy was so excited.

Doctor's Visit

Today Leo went to the pediatrician for his 4 month well-child visit. Except, he really wasn't well because he has this cold, which is now turning into a hacking cough. At least, he can still give his famous Leo smile. I'll start worrying when the smile disappears. I took this picture of Leo and Daddy after the doctor saw him and declared him a fat healthy baby (Leo, not Daddy). Leo is 12 pounds, 14 ounces and 24.5 inches long. He gained over 4 pounds since the last visit (2 months ago) and grew 1.5 inches. I also took this picture before the needles came in. 3 shots. 2 in one leg and 1 in the other. He wasn't so happy at that point. But now we're back at home and Leo is sleeping it off. We won't have to do this for another two months.

Leo's First Snowfall

"Mommy? Can't I go out and play?"

The Morning After

Leo's got a cold. We wish Leo knew how to breathe out of his mouth and then perhaps he wouldn't be so cranky. In the meantime, Leo gets to have saline spray squirted in his nose and have his nose suctioned out with a rubber bulb. Aren't colds fun?

One Dapper Lad

Tonight, Leo was taken to another Saturday night party. Here he is dressed in his finest!

And today, Leo is 4 months old!

Family Sleeping

Occasionally, we'll bring Leo into bed with us in the mornings if he has trouble going back to sleep. He sleeps between us and it usually goes like this: Leo will look over at Mommy. Leo will look over at Daddy. He'll bop Mommy in the mouth. He'll bop Daddy in the eye. He'll look over at Mommy. He'll look over at Daddy. Cooing and talking happens for about 5 minutes. He'll bop Mommy on the nose. He'll bop Daddy in the other eye. Cooing and talking. Cooing and talking. And then off to sleep. Leo managed to go back to sleep at 8:00am and didn't wake up until 10:00am! Way to go, Leo!

Practicing Standing

Leo's legs are getting stronger each day. I would say his kicks are about as strong as a kangaroo kick (give or take a little). He likes to practice standing, even though it may only be for a few seconds at a time. He'll be walking in no time!

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Aunt Helen and Aunt Faith came to babysit Leo today and gave Mommy a chance to go out for a couple of hours. Everyone had a good time! Leo had such a good time, that he conked out early. Here he is sleeping soundly in his bouncer. Thanks Aunt Helen and Aunt Faith!

Leo and his new Swing

Daddy and Mommy bought Leo his very own swing. We put Leo in it for the first time today and he seems to like it so far.

Cousins

Lexi had a wine tasting party tonight...so, Leo got to stay up late and hang out with his cousins. Here he is with Sam who is only 3 weeks older than Leo, but has an extra 5 pounds on him. I don't think Leo will be wanting to challenge Sam to a wrestling match anytime soon.

A Longhorn Fan

This picture is a shout out to Uncle Justin. Leo says thanks for the outfit!

Our Chubby Little Baby

Leo's put on quite a few pounds in the past 3.5 months. Look at those rolls of fat! He's our phat little baby!

Travelin' Leo

Today, Leo and Mommy took a little excursion. We went shopping for Leo. Here's Leo all bundled up in his carseat and ready to go.

Leo, the Conversationalist

Leo likes to talk often. Especially at 3am and at diaper changes!

A Fire for Leo

Daddy built Leo his very own fire. Now all Leo needs is a smoking jacket (but no smoking!) and some bedroom slippers.

Laughs with Daddy

Gareth was trying to put Leo to sleep tonight. This is what Leo thought of that effort. He knew it was a good half hour before bedtime!

Tummy Time

We try and give Leo some tummy time each day. He needs to strengthen that little neck of his. Here he is propped up on a little boppy pillow. I had just interrupted a conversation he had been having with Mumu (the cow's new name). He'll be crawling before we know it!

Tax Time is Coming....

Gee, I wonder what will be on Mommy's and Daddy's minds come April....

Let sleeping babies lie

Let sleeping babies lie, especially when they're cranky! Our little Leo either had gas or a bad case of existential doubt today. When you start trying to figure out what makes a baby smile when sitting at 10 degrees inclination, but cry when tilted at 11, you just gotta wonder! There ain't no logic in baby causation...

Don't Feed the Animal

We think Leo is getting a tooth. He is constantly gnawing on something these days. Here he is trying to decide between the cow's ear or his fist. He usually goes for the fist and adds his gnawing sound effects. This is especially endearing at 2 am.

Cranky Leo

Leo was quite cranky today, which made Mommy quite cranky. Daddy came home and took over. Here is Leo conked out in Daddy's arms.

What Up?!?

Here's Leo in his track suit. All he needs is some thick gold chains and he could be the next hip hop star. Track suit is courtesy of Ammachi and shoes/socks are courtesy of Oma.

His Own Crib

Now that Leo has reached the 3 month mark, it's time to get him to sleep in his crib. Up until now, he's been sleeping in a bassinet in our room. So, today was the first introduction to his crib. After a few minutes of listening and looking at the mobile, Leo managed to take his first nap. Granted, he woke up about 30 minutes later, but at least it's a start! He'll probably continue to sleep in our room for a little bit longer, but we're going to try and get him used to his crib a little more each day. Happy napping!

Leo and his Cow Friend

My friend Melissa came for New Year's and brought Leo plenty o' toys to play with. His new favorite toy is the rattling cow (which moos if you're nice to it). Here is Leo chewing on the cow's ear. We've also noticed a new developmental milestone with Leo. He reaches for the cow and holds onto it. Grow, baby brain, grow!

Uncles and Nephews

Uncle Dinesh came to visit for a couple of days. Here he is with Leo kicking back and having a good time.

The Sleeping Lion (or Duck)

Last night when I fed and put Leo back to sleep at around 2am and 7am, he laid in his bassinet and started talking to the ceiling (or, perhaps his imaginary friend?). He continued to talk/quack at the ceiling for what seemed like hours but really was about 15 to 20 minutes. When we woke up this morning, Gareth asked me how our little duck was doing!

Happy New Year!

Leo enjoyed (and slept through) his first New Year's Eve. Let's all applaud Leo today because during the night he managed to sleep for a whole five hours straight without waking up mommy or daddy (well, only a brief wake-up, but then back to bed he went). This is what a refreshed, happy baby looks like:
